旧の8月15日 十五夜は
ハーレーと並ぶ糸満のビッグイベント
糸満大綱引き。 今年は9月19日木曜日。
ぼくらも家内安全と無病息災を願い大綱を引き、
お祝いしてきます。
糸満中心部ほぼ一日中交通規制もあるので
19日木曜日の営業は終日お休みします。
夜は県立芸大主催のこんなイベントも

---- 糸満大綱引 ----
糸満大綱引は、五穀豊穣、大漁祈願、家内安全、無病息災を願い、南北に分かれた雌雄の綱の結合によって実りを予祝するものです。
大綱は、衆人綱（スニンジナ）、万人綱（マンニンジナ）とも呼ばれ、どなたでも参加できる開かれた祭りです。
今年も市内外から皆様のご来場をお待ち申し上げます。
■開催日時 ： ９月１９日(木) 午後２時～６時 （大綱作りは、午前８時３０分～午後１時)
■開催場所 ： 糸満ロータリー（糸満小学校） ～ 白銀堂 間（国道331号）
■道ズネー ： 午後２時～４時３０分
■大綱引き ： 午後５時～６時

持ち手の衣装はムムヌチハンター（股抜半套）と呼ばれ、１本の旗頭に持ち手は １５人程度。その後ろにチンク隊（金鼓）が鉦、太鼓を鳴らしながら、白銀堂まで勇ましい旗の舞を披露します。

※ミチズネー先頭の「ゆがふう旗」には梅の灯籠、「かりゆし旗」には桜の灯籠がほどこされ、通常「ゆがふう旗」は雄綱（ウージナ）、「かりゆし旗」は雌綱（ミージナ）につきます。

祭りの解説（English）
Itoman Giant Tug-of-War
Celebrating the rice harvest while annoucing the end of summer
In various villages throughtout Itoman City,tug-of-war competitions are held on August 15th and 16th of the lunar calender to cerebrate the rice harvest.
Of these, the Itoman Giant Tug-of-war is the largest, which takes place on August 15th at the Itoman Rotary.
Traffic is closed for the event. The rope that is used is enormous: 1.5 meters in diameter and 180 meters in length.
Two sections of rope, which villagers painstakinglybraid in a single day, are left to sit on the street until the festival. On the day of the festival prior to the tug-oｆ-war, a costume parade called Michi-zune takes place to build up the atmosphere.
Shortly after this, young men dressed as ancient heroes appear at the end of each rope while supported on wooden planks.
Participants from each side begin to encourage their hero by shouting.
After the heroes finish a staring confrontation, the two ends of the rope are broughttogether and joined with a large wooden pole(Kanuchi-bo).
The participants numbering over ten thousand take hold of the rope and wait for the signal to begin.
When the signal is given, the rope is pulled in rhythm to the sounds of shouting and beating drums.
